Our Story
The League of Vermont Writers
The League is a friendly and down-to-earth community of writers—both emerging and seasoned—from around the entire state and beyond. We are the oldest writing organization in Vermont and a safe space for digging in with others who delight in the written word. LVW is open to all who make writing a part of their lives. We offer support and encouragement, networking opportunities, craft, and professional development. We cover the nuts and bolts without being genre-specific. LVW is member-driven and guided by a board of directors consisting of volunteer members voted upon by the general membership. We are also a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization. You do not need to be published to join.
Founded in 1929, LVW's mission is to:
- Help writers develop their skills
- Promote responsible and ethical writing and writing practices
- Increase communication between professional writers and publishers
- Promote an enduring appreciation for the power of the word
